How loud is mantis "clicking"

How loud would the clicking sound of a mantis be? Every so often I hear a clicking that seems to be coming from my tank. I have now lost 2 fish a small chromis, and a 3" lubbocks wrasse. they both disappeared after some tank issues, so I am not 100% sure I could pin the losses on a mantis. I have been hearing this clicking for about a year, since I installed the tank. However, I also installed a surround sound speaker directly above the tank, and I wonder if the clicking is feedback or some other audio related noise. The tank is 1/4" acrylic, and the noise is not very loud... barely audible at 10ft. ...usually only one click never multiples, but sometimes as close as 10min. apart. There is no pattern, or rhyme or reason to when I hear it.. It can be anytime. what are the odds? Is there any good way to lure one out if he is in there? Wouldnt he have eaten my cleaners or other inverts before taking a fish?

Depends on the individual, both in terms of size and "personality". I have a peacock that you can hear across the house, and a little G. smithii that you can hear from across the room but not much more.

If you haven't seen your critter at all, it's either a very small species (that probably won't take out the wrasse) or it's a pistol shrimp which are really good at hiding.

Either way, I doubt a small mantis hitchhiker is likely the cause of your fish losses.

my 1.5" N wenneaer sounds like someone snapping their fingers really loundly. And it doesn't sound as loud as a pistol, i've have yet to hear a mantis sound like a 44 magnum let alone a 9mm

I sit 5 feet away from my G. Term. and it's about the same volume as snapping my fingers in front of me. You'll also notice a lot of broken hermit and snail shells in your tank if you have one.

I am pretty sure he meant pistol shrimp. Not sure if you were joking here.
