how loud should a 3155 pump be?

I have a new 3155 osmolator and it is working fine, but the pump itself is quite loud when it runs - i can best describe it as sounding like a cordless screwdriver - is this normal?

That is normal, their are a couple things you can do to greatly reduce the noise.

1) Suspend the pump, the noise is much less if it is hanging in the water by the cord and hose and not touching the bottom or sides of the reservoir.

2) You can turn down the pump speed as shown on page 42/43. This will reduce how fast and how much it can top up, but the noise is also reduced as you slow the pump.
