How many 6000's would u use?

Happy Holidays to all,

I'm currently running a 90gal reef with one Tunze 6000 and a powerhead 800 on the opposite end of the tank. I'm not too happy with the powerhead and was wondering if it would BE TOO MUCH flow to add another Tunze 6000, to replace the powerhead?

All comments are welcome.

Roger if you're out there, what do u think?

Thanks to all.

I have a 90gal. and I am just setting it up but I do have a 6000 with controller and I asked the same question to Roger. He said to use two and have them run at different times.

Thanks. As I mentioned above that I have a 6000 and it's running at half speed. So, I can only imagine if I had two. The water in my tank would be on the floor. But I guess I can make the necessary adjustments, and the corals would appreciate the better flow.

With the multicontroller you can run one at a time, on the new 7095 you can idle one while pulsing the other, this could also work for you.

No, the multicontroller would really be required to use this much flow in a 90, this way you could turn one off when the other was on. I suppose you could use timers but ittttt isn't quite the same because you have to stick to one hour intervals. I guess you could also just never go to full flow on either pump.

IMO it wouldn't be too much flow to run both 6000's at the same time in your 90g especially with them throttled down. I run both of my 6060's (1600 gph each) in my 72g all the time now. I used to alternate them on timers but since I've gone BB I just run them both wide open and everything seems to love it. I'm actually going to trade one of the 6060's for a 6000 as soon as the next batch comes in. Eventually I plan on running dual 6000's with a multicontroller.

Roger can you do this with the 7094 also or not?

*** Never mind I found the answer to this in another thread ***
