Hey, I recently added two blue green chromis to my tank (first livestock). Some sources say there should be 8-10 to a group. Others have said that no matter what they'll kill each other till there's only one left. I trust RC more than any LFS so I'd like to know your guys take on this matter

Although there will always be somebody who says they have successfully kept a group over the long-term, my experience is that eventually you will be left with one. I adopted three from a friend who was shutting down his tank and already it is clear that the weakest member is declining. I think with all damsel-type fish, one is the order of the day.

I agree with ca1ore "one is the order of the day". I have not been able to keep more than one blue/green chromis for any length of time in my setup.

Back in the day, I kept large schools of these in every reef tank I owned... no problems whatsoever.

Nowadays I can't get one thru QT. Whether they are killing each other off, or succumbing to some disease; I do not know.

It doesn't make any sense...

Started with 8 then quickly reduced to 5. Those 5 were together for 4+ years and all approx 3" before giving them away.

It's hit and miss. I kept them fed at all times and broadcasted the food so they weren't fighting over it.

Hi there
I have 20 green chromis For nearly a year now I've lost a couple over that time and just replace them And They was accepted into the Shoal I think success can be sometimes to do with the way your tank Is laid out and what other types of fish you have All play a part

I know they seem peaceful but they will kill each other off until 1 (maybe 2) remain.

It's like Highlander. There can be only one.
