How many bubble tipped anemones can i put in a 75 gallon tank. I have one in there now and would like to add more.

I would wait for yours to split naturally. Give it plenty of light and feed it once or twice a week small meaty items.

on my 57g i got 3 bta. i would imagine you can add more but i wouldn't add more than 2-3 because they tend to grow bigger and split.

There are no guarantee's that a BTA will ever split. It is even thought that there might be colonial form and a solitary form of the species.

Mine has split atleast 6 times in the year I have had it. Its been real fun trying to get them out of the tank.

I've seen wall to wall BTA's in a tank that size before (nothing else in the tank). I'm sure another would be fine.

I've had a RBTA for many years. Never once split on it's own. I've always cut it to get another. It's been in quite a few different systems, different lights, different tank loads, never split. It has changed appearance as for bubbles and color from system to system/lighting, but never split.

The reason why I say stick with one is due to allelopathy. The more strains of anemones that you have, the more likely they will stress each other out with chemical warfare. It isn't quite as strong as different species like haddoni and LTA together, but they will definitely war with each other a bit. This is exactly why when people farm BTA, they are encouraged to stick with all clones.

I have 4 btas in my 57 illuminata, 2 clone rbta, +rbta + gbta all living side by side touching and very happy. My tank is also well stocked with a mixture of different colors so I am sure you can fit a good number of nems if you wanted to.

you can put a few hundred in there easily. i bought 3 from Anthony Calfo and he had a ton of roses in his 40b. i have a rose from him over 14" and it wont split. i dont ant it to cause it hosts my large Chryspoterus pair. but the other 2 i got have split once. i got 9 in a 40b and they are doing great. you only need to worry about chemi warfare if they are different types of nems. bta are fine with other bta's. but dont mix a bta with a lta, gig or a haddoni.

Hmmm, I have about 30 or so in my 65 gallon right now.

I wouldn't say that you only need to worry about chemical warfare between different species - about 30 or so clones in my tank are female, and two are male. The two males suffer from a "failure to thrive" that I blame on allelopathy. Then again, maybe I'm wrong... this is just my experience...
