How many clowns?

79chopperdr

I killed ALL that Coral!
I have a 210 peninsula that I am dedicating an area for nems. Currently reading a lot on carpet nems and trying to decide which species to go with.

I know a local guy that breeds Picassos, my plan is to go with a big group since I can get them from the same clutch. I am thinking between 5-7.

Question 1. How big of a group of clowns is practical. Any experiences to share?

Question 2. Do I add the clowns or the nem first? What's my best chance at getting them interested.

Thanks

For long term success, only two are recommended for your tank. Yes, you will be adding them as juvi's which will give the appearance of success for some time, but eventually the odds are such that you will not keep all of them. A 210 is a decent sized tank, and some have had success with two pairs in a tank of that size, but be aware that as a single pair forms and reaches sexual maturity it is still a risk they will claim the entire tank as their own.

Also, as far as anemones go, be aware that many of the "carpet" nems are more difficult to keep, and haddonis are known to be more aggressive and have been known to even eat clownfish.

I agree with bues0022 plus I would not get all from the same clutch in case they should start breeding later on down the road do not want inbreeding...
