The inch per gallon rule is a poor way to judge how much to stoke your tank.
Better yet is to look at the adult size of the fish that you want to get. Fishbase.org is a great site for finding out that information of you do not have a good reef fish book. Look at the adult size and the depth, height, and length of your tank. Would it be appropriate?
Then for every fish after that you should look at the existing fish. Are they compatible? Will they have more then enough room to have their own space? What impact will they have on your bioload.
Always feel free to list your stocking plan here on RC. We can help point out potential problems, or just give the thumbs up.
