How many fish?

I have a 90g tank. Right now I have a foxface, a yellow tang, a blonde naso tang, a coral beauty, and two small true perc clownfish. Everyone seems to be getting along just fine.

We have an aiptasia problem and are considering a filefish (I'm aware that it may nip at corals). I would also like to add a hippo tang as well. Is that too many fish?

How many fish can you put in a 90g tank? The plan has always been to give the tangs to my friend (he has a 300g tank) when they get too big. But that is several years away.

Any thoughts?

Please do some fish research at LiveAquaria.com to see what species of fish can live in a 90 gallon tank. You already have several that are iffy and a Hippo is definitely one of them. Just because baby fish can get along short term in an unfamiliar setting doesn't mean they will two years down the road. Watching your fish kill one another or worse yet coming home to dead fish is heartbreaking. Best to plan ahead and get fish you can keep for 20 years.

Classic case of buying before looking. A few of those fish will likely get too be for a 90 on their own, let alone all of then together.

I'd get the tangs out of the 90gal asap. Sometimes the tangs grow based on their environment; if they're in a tank too small, they have growing issues and become sickly. They might look fine in those cases, but in reality they are not. Even with one tang, they should be in at least a 100 gallon tank.

Yellow tang and foxface are ok, I would not add any more( I would give away the naso) tangs. Maximum of ten small( that means stay small) fish

Just added filefish for aiptasia, actually yesterday. Remainders of an already dead xenia and last batch of zoas disappeared from display, in first night. Wonder what will happen tomorrow.
