I have had luck dipping my rock in carbonated water. They ooze out slowly and you can pluck them with tweasers. This also works with many other hitchhikers. It as I know, has little if any side affects to the rock or bacteria.
I do have one or two Sipunculida Worms aka...peanut worms that appear to have developed a taste for star polyps. Still don't know how I'm going to get them out though.
Im glad I found her when I did. She survived a iodine dip and was in a fairly new addition of polyps iside the rock. I caught a glimpse of her body one day and knew what it was so I pulled the rock out and broke it to get her out.....as you can see she was ready to pop with eggs in the last pic. Her blue tail dropped and dumped hundreds of eggs in the container I was taking pics of her in
