How many Tunze for a 150g?

150g tank, 660gph flow from sump. I was thinking two Tunze 6060s. one on each side of the tank pointed at each other with a controler. Is this overkill or just right?

On a side note I just bought a 6100 off the used forum, does this change anything?

Thanks,

I just built a 55g sump, I have a mag 9.5 return pump which should give me 660gph after head loss. I'm going to start with that and maybe experiment with a larger return pump once the system is up. the tank is 48 long twin Tunze's should be ok right?

the beauty of the tunze system is you can always decrease the output so if 100% output is too much you can always throttle them back to say 70% or 50%. The mags are good pumps are you running it in the sump or external? The Genx-40 is what I run outside the sump its a great pump and ultra quite.

I don't have anything setup yet, I just leak tested the sump today. My build thread is here: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1178054

I am planning on running the Mag pump internal, if its not enough flow I may try a larger Mag pump Mag 12 or Mag 18 ect...

From what I was reading about the Tuzne 6100, 1500gph is the min. So if I had two of them I would have them cranked down as low as they could go to get my 25x - 30x flow. I'm looking for multi directional flow so I don't want to run just one pump.

6101 replaces both the 6000 and 6100, it has a switch and can run as either type of pump based on the voltage setting. I would agree with 2 6101.

I have had mine in since friday and not only can I tell a difference in the corals, but my fish are more active and my clowns love to swim directly into the cuurent almost as if was a game!!

I use 2 6100's with the 7095 multi controller on my 150 gallon reef. I alternate the burst between 1/4 and 3/4. Works like a champ.

Can a 6060 and a 6100 use the 7095 controller?

No the 6060 is not suited to be switched on a controller only the electronic models are to be used on the 7095 these include the 6100.
