I am curiuous what people have for watts per gallon over their SPS tanks.

You do not even have to break it down, but maybe like a pic of your tank and they lights with wattage that you have over your tank would be great.

So help me out here.

I have 2 250w DE MH Pendants on icecaps over my 48'' long tank

Please excuse my ignorance how many gallons is a 48 long, 55?

4 X 95 watt VHO and 1 X 250 watt MH = 630 watts total over a 40" 90 gallon tank.
I am setting up a 48" 120 gallon right now and lighting will be 2 X 250 watt MH and 2 X 95 watt VHO = 690 watts total.

I think you will find that watts per gallon is not a very good way to determine lighting needs. It has more to do with light intensity, color, and depth, length, and width of your tank.

I understand that, but I am just getting a rough idea of what people are going with.

over my 4x2x2 it would = 7.4 watts per gallon.

Thats 3x250de on icecap ballasts and 2x95vho

It really depends on length width and height. anything deeper than 24" you should go with a 400W MH. You should have one about every 2'. If you have luminarc III relflectors you can get away with every 3'. on my 90 gal 36"x24"x24". 1 250 watt MH on a LuminarcIII.

4 400 MH and 4 160 VHO actinic on a 225 sps. Will be upgrading in a month to a 550 and will go with 5 400's and 6 vho actinic on a 550.
