How much algae do omnivores eat

In the midst of planning my new tank, I have decided to get an anemone carrying hermit crab. I do not want to risk the hermit crab killing any snails so I am contemplating other wall algae solutions. Today a thought popped into my head: How much might the omnivore fish I had already planned on putting in the tank keep down the algae. I am also planning on getting an urchin so it is only the walls I am thinking about taking care of.

I think you're going to have pretty noticeable film algae without some snails... try the astrea snails, mine always stay on my glass... the hermits never get anywhere near them.

+1. for my glass, I've always stucked with astrea's and nerites. Then i get some cerith and nassarius for the sand. And those (minus the nassarius) work algae on the rocks some too.

Omnivore fish for algae on the glass... I can't think of any species off the top of my head that would do this. You may get some that'll feed occasionally on any filament type algae on the glass but more likely you'd be seeing film algae. Might look into the "Magneticus Floatacious" for glass film algae.
