How much clearance is needed

I'm thinking about getting a wave box..

How far above the water line does the top of the wave box need to be? I have an acrylic tank that has a brace for a top. The area where I would want to install the wave box only has a fraction of an inch between the water line and the brace.

Thanks,

Ted

Roger,

The tank is an odd size. It's dimensions are 48 inches side to side, 26 inches front to back and it is 18 inches top to bottom. In all, it is pretty close to 100 gallons. As I mentioned, it is acrylic and so there is a piece of acrylic that is used as the top.

For additional flow, I have a closed loop sytem to go along with my return pump. Both the return and the closed loop have their own dedicated oceansmotion squirt.

Thanks,

Ted

Yoou would need about 1.5" of space from top of water to bottom of the braces. Magnet holders would be required to install it.

how much clearance would i need on a 187 gal tank? (60" Long, 24" wide, 30" deep) also 1.5" or less?

The longer the tank up to about 8ft, the bigger the wave gets. On a 5ft tank the wave could be 1.25" high. Corner overflows would reduce it to 1"- 3/4" I would have 1.5" to be on the safe side.

too bad, dont have that much clearance - next tank i guess.
will have to stick with streams. maybe i'll add a 6200 to my current 6100.
