How Much Do You Love Your Reef Tank?

Just wondering how much people love their tank! I ask b/c I have no kids, but I have alot of expensive things in my house elctronics/collectables, and a girlfriend that I love to death, but everytime Im out and I get this feeling somethings wrong at home, the 1st thing I think about is my tank, my tank is in the living room and when I awake in the morning, the first thing I do at 6am is go to my tank, when I walk in my house from along days work, I always go to my tank 1st. I will spend hours looking at something that I've looked at for years, but everytime seems like the 1st and that always seems to amazes me!

Its called an addiction!!! Dont be ashamed. I have it too. I do the exact same thing that you do every day. My addiction is a little more advanced than yours though. I will get out of bed at 3 am just to see if anything is moving around in the tank that i might not have seen yet. LOL....... Its ok!!!

I did a complete 180, as a child I was into snakes, turtles, lizards and fury things, but I loved neither like I do my Tank!

Yea i went through the sankes a lizards phase. nothing like a full blown reef!!! My fiance is still into the reptiles. here is a full list of animals in our house.

3 pitbulls
4 dumpy frogs
2 tree frogs
1 budgets frog
1 panther chamilion
37 gal salt
75 gal salt
15 gal frag tank
29 gal chiclid tank
and a 3 year old boy!!!!!

i have a 26gal reef with 20 long custom made sump, also a 1.2 gallon cube nano, which i set up about a week ago, just began goin through a diatom bloom, so pretty soon it'll be aaaaaallllll cycled i have 2 snails in there and a couple zoos. we'll see how it goes. and yes, i TOO do get up at 2-3-4 am to look inside sump with flashlight, or to look on sandbedfoor pods and new things. u'd be surprised almost every time i do this (once a week) sometin new pops up

Oh yeah... Love the reef!!! I work out of town a lot and always call home to ask how the corals are looking. Got an ACIII so I can keep an eye on things while I'm away. Got everything automated to the max. I like working away from home in a way just because you can really notice changes when you haven't looked at it in a week.

The fiancee and I are looking at houses and I'm thinking where I can put my reef in the wall and have an equipment room. Thats my motivation for the house so I can have a larger reef! She's supportive and is starting to learn a few things here and there. I tell her either I have this hobby or hang out in bars.. She likes the reef better.. :thumbsup:

Well I don't expect to come home after work and find that she installed a new Ca reactor or plan on finding plans on the computer of how she thinks redesigning the filtration could be more efficient and energy minded...

But she does like the tank and gets as zoned into watching it as I do. She is a trooper and will stop and pick things up that I ask for

All and all, I think I'll keep her around!

mine girlfriend is the sameway, if Im at work she will stop by the lfs and pick up things I need! I actually think that she is my only true supporter! I have came home at caught her just starring at my tank, she says that she's just amazed that the little 20g tank with 1 piece of LR and 2 damsels I started with 3 years ago is now a 55g with almost everything in the ocean!
