I have had the 600 setup for a year now. I have a dart and a hammerhead running. I figure my turnover is about 10-13 times per hour. I have 6 returns plumbed to the hammerhead on the top bracing blowing down at the rocks. The dart is feeding a 1.5" spraybar along the bottom. I have been battling cyano and diatoms for months, I have added phos reactor, calcium reactor, new MH bulbs new RO system all that stuff. I now think lack of flow is the issue. The areas where the "jets" shoot water onto the live rock have no algae at all, So I ordered another hammerhead and parts to make 6 more 1" returns to increase flow to all the dead areas.
My thinking is going from 10-13 up to 20+ times per hour should really help.
If you have a tank of 500 or more gallons what is your turnover? Does this sound like it could be a problem for me only having 10-13 times per hour?
