how much flow

i am planing on making a 80g cube just for my clown fish but now i am thinking on doing it for sea horses can any one tell me how much flow do they need because my cube is going to have a close loop here is a pic of my cube pluming with the close loop all the flow will be in the center of the tank it will flow trow the rocks

any input will be really appreciated

Start here, www.seahorses.org and www.syngnathid.org
Please do LOTS of research before getting into these. Low flow. They are a great and fun fish, but only after educating yourself will you have a successful seahorse tank. Good luck

syngnathid.org is no more. Sucks it was a good site.

As long as the flow is broken up they can handle quite a bit IME just not a solid jet stream leading them into danger.

My last horse tank was 20x the one I'm building now awill also run a closed loop with a quiet one 4400 as well as a return from the sump looking at about 27x.

I'm using spraybars and a few returns to make sure it's all sound. I'd shoot for more and then just install a ball valve on the pump incase the flow is too much.

I want to correct some misinformation posted by Kevin "pledosophy". I am a staff member of Syngnathid.org. Our site was hit very hard by hackers as many of you know. Some of the site was destroyed and we are working to correct this problem and will be back online as soon as this is worked out.

Thanks for the update pledosophy. Sorry to hear about the hacking incident. I am a strong believer in "what goes around, comes around". The websit will only be better once back online.

Yup, need good water quality.

Flow, well it does matter, but its velocity not volume you want to be concerned about. You don't want the hard flow found in some reef tanks.

I don't like the way people talk about gallons per hour or times tank volume turnover. They are very easy to relate to, but really don't talk to the real issue of velocity. I wish there were an equally understandable, but more descriptive way to talk about flow.
