How much is YOUR nano setup worth???And the stuff in it?

People are selling complete setups with just about everything you need for dirt cheap on the forums. Great if you're starting out I suppose but it is a way to save money.

I was afraid of doing this <hmm3>

29 Gallon Mixed Reef with 20 Gallon Refugium Sump

Equipment: $1,250
Livestock so far... : $1,000 about

Planning on a grand total of near $3,000 ... I am about 2/3rd's done .

Does it really matter? Shouldn't it be priceless do to passion for a hobby?

If it was priceless I would have a huge tank then the bad part is there is all my collage money. I think the only time you can say that is when it is a very cheap hobby which this is not.

Ehhh priceless this hobby is not! The amount of care given and time dedicated to building and watching is priceless but not the goods themself.

On my 12 gallon nano I spent $3000 in the first year. I calculated it using my credit card statements because I always used the same card and at that point I was only buying from the LFS.
12g nano
Modded additional 48 watts of PC lighting for total of 96w
12 moonlight led's on moon cycle timer
UV sterilizer
ICA Chiller
titanium heater
modded rear pump and an additional one in main compartment
you know all the usual

Wow, that is definitely a big price tag on a nano but I am sure you are enjoying it like crazy!!!! Have any pics?:)

That equals to 2,145. Thast not counting all the miscellaneous stuff like test kits, salts, bulb replacements and long lost corals etc..... I think its closer to the 4,000.00 range. And on some of the prices I was being conservative.

My 20 H is about 500 bucks fresh set-up, only a snowflake eel corals are still to come....

My 55 jeez Last time I added it up it was about $3,000 and since then Ive bought like 20 pounds more rock and a few corals. Ive had probally 500 bucks atleast of fish and corals die on me (due to a 8 hour power failure). Which reminds me I have a power backup now which is another 300 bucks.

With Power, replacement bulbs, salt... its even more.:eek2:

EDIT: Oh yea, how could I forget, I also just got a 37g FOWLR which is another 400-500 and I still need to buy the skimmer which is going to be a remora pro for 225 on ebay.

I also had a 12g eclipse before the 20H, needless to say once I went to the LFS for the first time I got the bug hardcore.

How much is YOUR nano setup worth???And the stuff in it?

I am curious to know how much people have put into their Nano's from both an equipment size, as well as the live stock, corals,

Not worth nearly what you put in, no matter what.

I tried to keep track on this little 12g NC but have lost track and after two months am already upgrading anyhow. Let's suffice it to say *WAY* more than you plan will be spent.

I will tell give you a list of things I have, but not prices because that would take too much time.

The tank:

12g Tank + S-Stand
70W Viper lamp
MJ 900 + MJ 600
Hydor Flo
Nanobob surface skimmer
Magnet cleaner
50w Visitherm Stealth Heater
Digital Thermometer
7lb live rock
Various corals, etc.
Auto-top off via Chocolateblnt air-pump design (if you can afford it, my recommendation is to go with a float switch, but this is a comprimise that will work for this tank.) This includes a 3g carboy, airline tubing, check valve & air pump.

Add'l equipment:
RO/DI unit w/drinking water kit
Pinpiont pH monitor
Pinpoint Salinity monitor
Salifert Test Kits (Calcium, Alkalinity, Phosphate)
Other Tests (ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate)
Phosban media
Carbon
Auto-feeder for vacations
Feeding syringe, hemostats, long tweezers and Bone cutting sheers
Add'l heater & powerhead for mixing saltwater.
Salt
B-Ionic

Gosh, I am sure there is more, but this is off the top of my head. As you can see, it gets expensive as you realize what your needs are.
