How much L-Glutamine would you use for the standard Pappone reciepie?

5 Oysters
5 Mussels
5 Clams
5 Shrimp
1 Tablespoon of Sugar

There is a standard pappone recipe? Isnt that the one where you add HGH.?

L-Glutamine is one of many amino acids, why add just this one?

true the orginal recipe contains HGH.

How ever i read here, that many used L-Glutamine as a replacement/alternative to HGH, or/and to add amino acids. Also its common avaiable where i live, something that HGH is not. So how much of it would you add to the above reciepe?

In humans an oral load of L-glutamine triggers the pituary gland to release GH, but I doubt it will be the same in corals ;-)

but then I also wonder how a growth hormone specific for humans would do anything in a coral too....

HGH, as in human growth hormone?

Why? It is not biologically active in corals (I'm not sure if it's even biologically active in other hominids), so it wouldn't do anything besides serve as a protein to be digested. Wouldn't it be cheaper and easier to just use some sort of pure protein isolate, like unflavored whey, soy, or egg?

I've contemplated trying it, actually. 100% pure whey is pretty easy to get. Given HGH is just a water soluble protein as far as corals are concerned, I'll bet a high quality complete protein like whey would work as well or better. Most of the peptides in whey of are fairly similar size to HGH, so if HGH can be absorbed and digested, I'd assume the peptides in whey could be too.

I have been using pappone and have no issues with out the HGH. My question is why do you think it's needed? I don't mind adding something new to it just don't see how the Sps will benefit from that stuff.

Please tell us more.

this thread took a interesting turn.

i just wanted to add L-Glutamine, as i was under the impresion that it would add as a growth booster, in delivering a range of diffrent amino acids to the system.

When i used to have fresh water fishes, i usaly used the yellow plum of a chicken egg, that was hard boiled. It always made the fish grow fast, mabye it could be used in pappone aswell to add a pure proetein boost?

Well I must admit feeding beef heart sure made my discuss grow faster and bigger. Also jack watley feeds discus fry egg raw egg whites as there first foods. I doubt both of these have a place in a reef tank but who knows. Maybe someone with some knowledge will chime in on the subject.
