How much light is too much?

I just changed my tank from a 28g to a 15g, keeping my lights (3 x 24W T5HO) and my favourite zoa pieces. I also bought a couple news frags. I did the change on Friday, and some of them have not yet opened. I would think this is because of the move... I hope they will open soon.

Someone was at my house and commented that the light was too strong. They are pretty near the light, but I have 2 x actinic plus and 1 x aqua blue geisemann bulbs.

Nah, your good. They just need to get re-acclimated to the tank again.

Some folks put their zoos under 2 400watt MHs. I got 8T5s blasting my zoos.

Thanks for the response! Should I do something? Reduce photoperiod? Cover the tank with mesh? Or just give them time?

Start them all the way in the bottom. Leave them alone and they should open. Some zoo's open right away some takes days to weeks.

Days to weeks? I didn't know that some took that long to open. It's good to know so I don't start to panic when I start ordering zoas online!

I think IMO and personal experience the more common zoos are more resilient and tougher. They usually open almost right away compared to more high end pieces.

Some of my PPE's stayed close for weeks, then all the sudden 1 day open up and looked real happy with a couple babies. WHo knows with these things.
