How much light?

I have a 55 gal tank w/ 2 x 96 watt PCs & 2 x 96 actinics. I want a clam sooooooo bad but I'm afraid I won't be able to provide it w/ enough light. Is it okay to get a clam w/ this light setup? I would like to get a crocea but I've heard they're one of the most demanding.

In my opinion you need MH's.

I don't think MH is a requirement, however PC is not a good idea.

A Squamosa or Desera would do okay in your tank. I wouldnt even try a crocea/maxima. If you want a crocea that bad, id recommend upgrading your lights to MH or HO T5's.

You may be able to get away with keeping Tridacnas for a while with PC, but within a year they're probably going to wither away. You really need MH, PC's just don't cut it. For the price of a few clams you can easily upgrade to MH.
