How much sand for 300dd?

Was wondering what people think I'll need for a 300dd (6x3). I plan a pretty shallow sandbed like half to 3/4 inch. Probably Tropical Eden Reeflakes mixed with miniflakes.


I have zero idea on kinda figuring it out, any guesses? Was hoping like 120lbs would do it since that lets me get 4 bags. Or would that even be too much if I dont want an inch plus?

I'm not sure but they have calculators online they should be able to give you a pretty good idea

I ordered 4 reefflakes and 2 miniflakes for my 200 dd 4'x3' I ended up using a little less than 3 to get my bed under 1 inch. If you want 1/2 I'd say 2 reefflakes and 1 miniflakes would do the trick. If you want closer to 3/4 inch I'd suggest 2 bags of each. Tropic eden is the cleanest substrate I have ever seen! I barely rinsed the reefflakes, didn't rinse the mini at all and the water was never cloudy! Good Choice!!!

So I ended up using 1 and 3/4 bags reefflakes and 1 bag of miniflakes for my 4'x3' tank. My sandbed is 3/4 inch average. I'm gonna use the leftovers for some other projects I have going in my fish room/sump area.

Perfect, sounds like 4 bags will work and maybe a smidge left over for some other purpose.
