how much skimmate is expected weekly on 670 gallons?

I just cant understand how/why my skimmer produces as much junk as it does weekly.

I run a Deltec AP103 skimmer
directly fed from the tank's drain
I do not run filter socks
I don't run the skimmer overly wet
I can easily fill the collection cup with dark soupy sludge (1 gallon + ) weekly.
how can it be pulling this much junk from the system?

Have minimal fish and all SPS coral

what has been your experiences?

Without running socks, there is a very high amount of suspended particles to skim.

I suggest you to put the socks in, because anything can be suck into the skimmer's pump and will cause you a lot of money later.

I ran my system with six socks before anything get to my TC3070S I got about half a gallon per week on a 250 DT and 275 G sump

That doesn't seem like that much. I have a 265, also with a recirculating skimmer and no filter socks on the system, and I dump out about 1/2 a gallon of thick beer weekly. Make sure you have a filter screen on the gravity feed though.
