How much space between clam and frogspawn?

Silly clownfish

I am planning to get a clam soon (I have been saying this for a year). I had a spot reserved for it in the tank, near center, about 1/3 of the way from the bottom, a nice, solid, level rock. But considering how much it will eventually grow (maxima), I am rethinking the location. There is another flat rock higher in the tank that could work if I prune/ move my euphyllia (frogspawn). I am just eondering how far I need to move it. I have been using 6" as a rule of thumb for the sweeper tenticles. Many years ago in a 30g I lost a candy cane to this frogspawn, but mushrooms grow right up next to it.

I cureently have the frogspawn kind of isolated on the back side of a live rock island, so it has no chance to reach anything else. The place I am considering for the clam is the top of that island, which is why I am trying to figure out how far away I need to keep the frogspawn?

I can't speak for everyone, but I have a torch above a deresa and I've seen them touch. Nothing bad happens that I've seen.

If your worried about it, the stinging tentacles on the frogspawn can double from the size of the head they come out of length wise. Usually corals can touch without incident depending on what it was. If you see longer stingy looking tentacles coming out at night, those are the ones that will do the damage

Yes, it is the sweeper tentacles at night that I am conspcerned about. But now that I think about it, the clam would be closed up then, wouldn't it?

Knowing that a torch and derasa have anecdotally been ok touching helps. Good data point!

I haven't seen the sweeper tentacles in years. I think the frogspawn only puts them out when it detecs something it doesn't like being too close (can candy, leather, etc.).

It occurs to me that is the frogspawn is a problem I can move it all to my frag tank.
