How much T5 lighting to keep clams happy?

The title pretty much says it! I am wondering if a switvch to T5 is prudent... How much T5 light is needed to keep clams such as a deresa or crocrea happy and healthy? Thanks!

If you put the T5 reflectors edge to edge to cover the top of your tank you will be fine as long as the clams aren't too deep (around 18" max IMO). You should use the SLR or SLS reflectors to get the maximum light out of the T5s. If you overdrive the bulbs using an Icecap, even better.

I guess I should have provided more info! My bad...

- Tank is 20" deep.
- Currently there is a 4" sand bed, but will become starboard system.
- Current lighting is 2x250 MH (20K Radiums on IceCap ballasts).
- Clams include an 11" and 7" deresa, and a pair of 3" croceas.
- I am looking at a 6 x T5 system (4 foot length).
- Considering a suspended Tek Light T-5 system (less heat, eliminate canopy).

They would likely be happier under those 250s you have. But, if you get a good reflector and move the croceas up as high as possible, they might be ok.
