how much to feed?

Is there a rule of thumb to use when feeding fish/inverts? I added my cleanup crew today and gave the shrimp a few pinches of brine - they seemed to enjoy it. I'm guessing it depends on the size of the animal, so should I feed them once until they stop eating, and then stick with that amount from then on? Your thoughts? Also, while I've got your attention, I've got a TINY sexy shrimp (centimeter or two), how fast will this guy grow, and should I use any special method to feed him? I appreciate your help!

The rule of thumb when feeding is to feed only what fish/ inverts can eat within a 3 minute period. If there is food left over than you have over fed.
Shrimp tend to grow fairly quickly, they wil find food else where from what you put into the tank. I would say within the next 3 or 4 months the srimp should be a inch in size.

i feed my tank everyday sometimes twice a day. my favorite fish t feed is my 7 oscelaris clowns they are awesome

No you dont have to feed everyday, I feed every other day and everyone seems happy. There will always be something for the fish to graze upon. Fish will continuously eat.

I feed my fish once a week.....When I first started I fed my tank once every other week....Fish seemed to be alright with that

You should never feed the fish more than what will cause a slight buldge in the abdomen area.

There are many rules to feeding and it depends on the individual species being kept.

Grazing species need to eat for more than 80% of their day (live rock or a lettuce clip helps with this).

Lionfish as an example should never be fed more than 3x's a week of a medium sized diet for their body mass.
Another example is Anthias that are planktonic feeders and require several small meals per day for long life and health.

Reseach the species you keep and feed accordingly...
