How much top off?

I am trying to decide on a tank size and was wondering how much water you use for different size tanks. Also let me know what lights and tank size please. This will help me out alot. Thanks

i have a 50 display, 10 gal sump. I have a DE 250w MH. i use 5 gal every 2-4 days depending on humidity.

I have a 300 gallon display and a 55 gal sump. The total water volume in the syatem is 280 gal. I add 3 to 4 gal a day. HTH. But what is top off really anyhow? It is only fresh water, it's not like it has the added cost of the salt. My tank has four 10" tubular skylights on it that give it light all day, then in the evening it has three 250W MH pendants that run for three or four hrs every evening.

i guess it could be added kalk in the top off, or the need for a bigger more efficient RO/DI unit? although i think a good 75 gl/day unit should suffice for about most tanks.

psuedopimp, true about the kalk. I have a 100gpd RO/DI unit and I make water for not only my tank but also for a friend here in Deming and have no problem keeping up with both tanks.

I think a 125 is the perfect tank to start out with! They are not that big and provide plenty of room for most of the tangs in the hobby. That is what i would recommend. Lights will be MH or T5, or both. lol Thanks
