was wondering for all you sps dominate and sps lovers....how much water are you changing a week or so fourth to keep your good sps growth up and running......seems like 15-20 gallons a week should be fine on a 120aga with 135aga sump-220 gal estimated gallons of water......any input......mike:fish1:

Dosing and keeping proper levels of calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium are much more important to growth than waterchanges. You'll find some stunning sps tanks where the owner claims to never change the water. The general rule of thumb seems to be in the 10-15% changed weekly or biweekly. Dosing in the interm is mandatory for most tanks.

I try to do 5 gallons every day. I get lazy or busy some days so probably end up doing 20 of these changes in a month. I dose 2 part as well.

Little over 10% every Saturday for me. The main section of my sump is 10g, so I just drain & fill that for my changes.

It doesnt really matter at what % you take out.
The key to SPS care is stability.
I normally do 15% water changes.
Just keep your salinity, mag, alk, and ph stable.

only time i do a water change is when i vacuum out my over flows. Other then that nothing. so about 10 gallons a month on a 150. I have decent growth but my tank has just finally gotten very stable after its first 9 months.

I change 20 gallons in my 120 every 2 weeks but agree with statement above Stability is key Alk/Mag/Calcium a good salt will help with this

+1 , but also keeping temprature stable within 1°c (or less will be better)seems to grow sps better that when having temprature fluctuations (in the past i had this issue).

I do WC's of 8 % weekly
