How much water flow for an anemone?

Hi,

I'm setting up a small tank with an anemone and a family of clowns. The tank size is only 75 gallons. Although nothing is set in stone, the clowns will be pink skunks and the anemone will be an LTA.

The circulation from the main pump will be roughly 5x tank volume (~400 gph) as I've read most places. My concern is that this is not enough water flow for any anemone. Because of the anemone I can't use power heads. This also means I can't have a closed-loop. I'm wondering how I can achieve stronger flow in this tank. Or is 400 gph enough?

I hope someone has some ideas.

I like the idea of the VorTech. I will go with the MP10. I don't really understand the ratings they give this pump because at its max of 1575 gph, that's like 32x turnover in the rated 50 gallon tank. I guess it's because they are designed for nanos which have corals. In a 75g this is only 21x max turnover which is more than enough for my needs, especially when combined with the 400 gph of the the main pump. (I'll tune down the pump to a more reasonable flow.)

The pumps are freakin' expensive but I guess it's okay since I won't need the closed-loop pump.

Thanks for the suggestion 68551.

I run a CL and power heads to get that flow. A LTA will stay on the sand between rocks

Do you worry about the anemone wandering into the CL or PH? I know LTAs usually stay put, especially when they find a good place to burrow, but I've heard stories (and have one of my own) where the anemone lifted anchor and did some globe-trotting.

Put a couple power heads in the tank!It aint going to hurt!LTA's stay in the sand...So the less likly hood of them getting sucked up.But...it can happen!

That is a chance we all take for housing a nem. That is way i like the LTA thay stay on the sand well 95% of the time  If you do get a nem that likes to move just put a sponge guard on the power heads.
