Update.... the efflo lost quite a bit of flesh around the perimeter and on most tips; but, it still has some flesh left in the middle. It will be a very long road to recovery if at all, unfortunately.
How much would you pay for efflo?

Well,
Let's admit we are all much prouder of the corals we grow rather than the colonies we buy.
For most of us this would be a bummer. For Steve it's just a bigger bummer, because as large as his tank is it will take a little bit longer till it becomes a large stunning focal point once again.
But on a positive note, if the coral is finally stable, I am sure we can convince Steve to start a thread "Watch it Growback" and for the next couple of seasons we can watch the progression of recovery. (Not to mention more photos of Steves tank is always a good thing).
The big question is, will the desire to stabilize this coral and regrow it to its magnificence postpone Steve's upgrade to a new 1400g tank -- (Just had to start a new rumor).

Just got me a frag of an almost identical efflo. Colony is solid deep purple throughout. This frag was in poor light for a while so it is not as solid purple as the parent colony. Hopefully it will grow fast so I can get yall some cheap frags!

When I hear cheap, that usually means no more than $20/frag. When I see sites that have frags for $60+ for a single lil' frag, spending $500 for a whole colony sounds reasonable!

There is a Montipora effloescens (or howerever it is spelled. Not sure what it looks like as I have never seen one in person and my books are at the shop. In this pic, I cannot see it well enough to see the axial coralites.
Just curious about the ID on that piece... she's a beaut
