How not to move a tank

When I had to move my tank a bunch of guys showed up with just about the same equipment. Thinking ahead I already had suction cups and needed to micro manage it.

They are lucky they still have fingers.

I move tanks all the time. Three this week, a 380. 220, and 70- all glass tanks. I NEVER use suction cups. Too good of a chance to fail. Instead we use lots of people and have never damaged a tank or property doing it.

These guys are just idiots. That tank couldn't have been too heavy, why not just carry it?

I've never had one fall off but I am sure they have before. My guess is most of the time its due to cheap cups or user error.

The rental place down the street from me rents 10" cups with 200lb load capacity. I use 8 for my 360g and it only weighs about 450lbs. Safety factor of 3.5. Not too concerned about it but I don't do it all the time. Hopefully I never do it again.

This one might make you guys feel better.

Maybe

The entire length of that video I was PRAYING it would end up a pile of shards on the floor. He would deserve it. He really doesn't have ONE friend on the planet that he could share a 6 pack with that could lend him TEN SECONDS? I mean it would have literally taken 10 seconds to lift it from the floor to the stand and would have taken 2 men. More would have been better, but I'd feel a lot better with 2 men rather than the shenanigans he was going through. Yeah, that folding table looked REAL strong. LOL

Great, now I have Queen stuck in my head.

Anywho, this one is great too:

The kid moves the tank and stand to a new location. Forgets he placed the light strip in the stand through the top of the stand, puts tank on stand and fills it. LOL Now the light is stuck and he's going to drain the tank to get the light out. Had that been me, I'd just break the light to get it out. Looks like an old PC fixture and is time to be replaced anyway. ;)

OK, lol, I've moved a 220 glass tank by myself a couple times and it was extremely sketchy, difference was, I have a forklift. I would never even come close to trying something as stupid as a floor jack, foam, and tables. I had a friend who lost his life in front of his 3 year old daughter by slicing his femoral artery while trying to move a 150 gallon by himself, it's all I can think about anytime I get ready to move a tank.

I can watch it on the computer but the tablet won't. Something about copy write on the audio track for the tablet.... I was expecting them to smash it completely What a let down lol :)
