I've had my rbta for 2 years and never feed it. I just dose DT phytoplankton every other day.
You didn't say how big your tank is. You can feed if you want but feeding bta's will only make them grow faster, and trust me, they will.
I have a reef tank with LPS, SPS, SPF, clams, inverts, the works. My maroon clowns are very protective of their bta making it necessary to move things around which is a real pain. Anything thing they consider too close to the bta is subject to a whopin'. The clowns were attacking my gold maxima clam, monti anenome, feather duster, etc...
