How often do you feed your nems?

One of my bubble tips is massive but it always has that "stringy" tentacle look.

How often should I feed it?

What happens if I feed too much?

It will regurgitate if you feed it too much. Some people never spot feed, some do it a few times a week.

I was doing mine every three days. Then I cut it back. Remember it needs time to digest and take in the nutrients. If you feed it too often it will be getting rod of the old food and good food at the same time.

You have to watch it and figure out how long it takes to digest the ammout you gave it. That dark stringy stuff out of it's mouth.

Now I feed mine on Friday's. I give my ritteri about the size of a quarter and the other two about the size of a nickle.

I feed mines twice a week, but I'm trying to grow it out that's why. I'm not sure if its just my anemone or every anemone but when I feed it fresh table shrimp it get nice and fat, unlike when I feed it krill or mysis shrimp it would still be long and stringy.

My anemone had that stringy look(but not lacking in tentacles in any way) and he seemed to be stretching out more often so I started feeding it thawed out frozen squid every other day. He stopped the stretching and long tentacles so much. In my experience, unless they are sick, they will drop the food if they are not hungry.

Currently have 3, S. haddoni, E. quadricolor, and M. doreensis, been at least a year since I have directly fed any of them.

No, because over-feeding isn't natural to begin with. There is no sure way to get them to split, regardless of what some people might try to tell you.

Actually there are 2 reasons an E. quadricolor will split.

One, conditions are very good, it has excess energy to put towards reproduction -- be it sexual or asexual (( splitting )).

Second, conditions are poor, the anemone takes its last bits of energy to clone itself, in the hopes that the clone will find better conditions.

When I was still keeping BTAs and clownfish, I fed my anemones once or twice a week. Now I'm keeping rock anemones, which I feed every couple of weeks or so.
