How remove rhodactis mushrooms?

I have a large amount of rhodactis indosinensis in my FOWLR. Is there any easy way of make them deattach from the rocks? (dead or alive)... :hammer:

If you can cut off light contact for a few days, this should make some detach. You might try using an ice cube to make them detach (it works with anemones). One more drastic meausure would be to use some sort of invertebrate killing medicine. Heat the tank up to cause them to bleach and die maybe? I'm just tossing ideas out to see if any sound familiar to ya

They're tough to kill. I use a kalk paste and spray them but they come back and I hit em again. That pretty much does it. If you try to remove them and leave even a tiny frag, it will grow back.

I ended up taking the rocks out of the tank and scrubbing the Rhodactis away with a brush... Du you think these will grow back (photo)...?

Yes, you have to remove 100% of the mushroom, otherwise they can grow back.

I once took out a rock with mushrooms and let it sit dry for six months and they came back.

Bringing back an old thread. I have some hairy rhodactis that I am trying to kill. I have kalk pasted them 3+ times and they still come back. The rock is a main structure and cannot remove from the tank. I want the real estate for other corals and have already fragged these shrooms.

I take a section of PVC, a coupling, electrical tape, a chisel, and chop off a small section of the rock that contains the mushroom. The PVC needs to be long enough to make it out of the tank and then I hit it with a small hammer. Make sure you take out the chiseled piece of rock. I have never had a mushroom grow back when I use this method.
