How safe are anemones in a soft coral tank????? I've heard a lot of negative things about them.; anemones in coral tanks often move around and can kill of the corals?

Is that true????

Yes its very true. Anemones are beautiful creatures, but they can kill coral and other animals. I have had long tentacle and green carpet anemones before and both have moved around, the carpet being more destructive.
Heres a pic of my old gren carpet and clarkie clown. It was so big it took up a third of my 90 gallon.

It killed my torch coral, long armed xinia, and mushrooms. It was so big some fish couldn't avoid it, like my gold headed sleeper goby and midas blenny. That was enough, I sold it to a guy with the clown. I hat two long tentacles and one killed my very healthy copper band. It even ate frozen foods.:(

So I took those back to the LFS. Anemones are great animals, but they can kill coral in their path.

here is a pic of my 92g, as you can see I have lots of softies. Now once he moves I have to be on top of it and move every thing else. So if you don't mind rearranging everything they are fine.

Oh you can stop a anemone from moving by having stable water parameters and proper lighting. Mine has only mover 3 times in a year and has been in the same place for a year now

thanks, its a Haddoni. We bout him when he was about a foot and now it has to be 18 inches. But we bout him just to have this tank with anemones so all the softies when in after he was settled
