How should a green Stylophora look???

I bought a green Stylophora that was under PC lights at the lfs. I glued it to my rock, under 150w MH lights, and after 2 weeks I thought I bleached it. So, I created a screen with 4 layers to cover it from the MH. Well, it has been 2 weeks since, and it seems healthy, but the skeleton is still pale. Then I checked on-line for pics, and most of what I saw were even paler than my stylo!! So, now I'm confused. Was the stylo browned under the PC and is now normal under my lights, or is it truly bleached?

Yes, it looks a little bleached. Stylo's are hardy and in time it should perk back up; however it should not be as brown as it was under PC's. Next time you pick up a coral that was under PC lighting, put it on the sand bed for 2-4 weeks to adapt to your lighting.

Thanks, Cindre2000. I'll keep it under shade for another week, then. After that, I'll start removing a layer of screen each week.

the pic you found online is bleached as well, but not horribly

I suggest right now you cut a couple of those tips that still look marginally ok and remount them(I see two small ones)

when stylos go they can go fast....real fast........ and by no means do I mean to be a downer, but I would give ten to one odds that thing will start sloughing a signifigant amount of tissue soon and if it starts it will be gone in a day

Yeah, I had a pink stylo that got knocked over. Was under bright sun at the lfs, looked good for 2 weeks under my MH, then found it upside down in my substrate one morning, may have been that way for 24 hours. Glue didn't hold, knocked over by something. I replaced and reglued it. Turned dead brown in 48 hours, then totally white and dead another 48 hours later.

Anyhow, this green one actually seems to be recovering. Some of those scars you see at the tips are receding, and I am seeing more green polyps everywhere. The skeleton is more some more tan colored now, but not quite as brown as the original. I don't trust my fragging skills (don't have any ), so I think I'll just keep an eye on it for a while. Thanks for the advice, though.

Here is a healthy example of green stylo... This colony is on the bottom of my tank(24") under T5s.

Agreed with jbanks and the stylo should have more neon green look to it. Mine is still about 1/3 the size of jbanks but is identical in color.

Mine is also very green! Under 250w Halides.

My lighting is in my sig. I'd add that mine is towards bottom directly under one of the halides. It's ~26 inches down and would add that I only see the skeleton when lights have been off....Otherwise I only see the white tips

Ok, looks like I may have put it too high, at about 10" under the MH. I'll see if I can take it off the rock and put it lower down. Thanks!

I just wanted to show you guys that thanks to your input, the stylo I have is recovering. It certainly is better after 4 weeks in the shade and lots of feeding. I just took out one layer of screen, 3 more to go! Pic doesn't do the amount of improvement justice, still has a ways to go, but it definitely has more polyps now. Thanks again.
