Im looking to build a 300-400 gallon tank out of glass and Im not sure how thick the glass needs to be. Can I use acrylic for the bottom piece and glass all around? I plan to eurobrace the tank, and drilled for center overflow thats internal, not external overflow. Anybody have any ideas or input to help my build. Thanks

A lot will depend on your dimension of your tank - as if it's deeper, then a thicker glass might be required.
With a eurobracing, I would presume a 15mm glass (1/2") will be sufficient should the height/ depth of the tank is the standard 24-30"
As for bottom to used acrylic, there is only one company that's able to do that and if you're using that company, then they will usually advice you on the thickness of the glass required as the manufacture will have to standby their warranty.

WOW!!! GlassReef.... Your not screwing around, lol,, GREAT set-up. To get back to my build, I'm going with 3/4 glass all around with a 1' bottom. As for overflow I'm considering the external overflow that GlassReef has incorporated into his tank. The more silent the better. The internal overflow can get quite noisey when the wavebox is running.
Now with a wavebox(ie.Tunze), Will it work fine with the overflow you have designed for your tank GlassReef? Will it be as silent as it should be?

Im also considering the Aquatronica controller to make everything a little more stable. Now does anybody have any experience with this controller or any other controller? I dont know too much about the other controllers on the market and if anybody can kinda direct me to the more user friendly or expandable units on the market. I really wanna encorporate a controller set up, I just don't have anybody telling me which is better other than the LFS advising me to buy the only controllers they sell..
