I am trying to firuge out the best way to accurately measure temp. I have 1 themometer stuck to outside of glass, 1 floating in the tank and then my chiller has 1 built in. All 3 are ready different within 3 degrees F off of oneanother. I am not sure on which one to belive. Should I start thinking of buying a temp controller? Any other ideas out there? hank you for any advice.

i would think the thermometer on the inside of the tank would be dead on..... depending on the flow in the tank maybe its actually a couple degrees different where the chiller is? just adjust the chiller so that the temp tank is where you want it. and as long as there arent and significant changes you should be golden!

should I then just calibrate the chiller thermometer to the floater in the tank? Or should I just lower the temp setting on the chiller?

I should of mentioned that the chiller is reading 76.5 and the floater is reading what looks like 79-80. I havethe chiller set to come on at 77 right now but it hasn't kicked in yet.

Scarp the glass mounted thermometer and use an intank reading. Those Liquid Crystal temp strips are pretty but very inaccurate.
