How to avoid frayed wires on in-tank equipment ?

Over the years we have all dealt with hardened cables which end up cracking and usually requiring equipment to be replaced. I want to switch to tunze pumps with which I had great experience, however, I'm wondering how I can protect the cable from breaking in a year or two? Is the damage from uv? If so, would this work over top of it? Is this wrap reef safe? (It's plastic)

well...I can't say for sure because I'm not a chemist...but here is my .02. I assume you are talking about putting this over the cables that run into the tank to the pumps? Or are you just saying using it external to the tank?

I see that it's made of polyethylene plastic, but it's certainly not food grade HDPE plastic.

I'm not sure what (if anything) might leach out of it should you put it inside the tank. I personally wouldn't do that, but if you are just trying to organize your cables outside the tank this could work fine.
