How to become a memeber?

Hello, everyone. I want to know how to become a member of the East Tennessee Reef Club.

I started my tank in sept '09 and I'm still working on it. Getting my sump put together right now.

I would like to talk and meet people from my area (knoxville) so I can learn more about this hobby.

It's my first tank and it's not heavily stocked. I've been laid off, so I'm trying to spend only what I need to spend to get it going.

I would like to put some chaeto in the sump, if anybody has some that grew too much, please, don't throw the excess away. Just let me know and I'll stop by to pick some up.

I'm looking forward to learning more and making friends I can talk about SW stuff with.

Howdy! And welcome!

If you'd like to join, you should just show up at the next meeting. We just had the last meeting this past weekend. The next should be the 3rd weekend in April, but it sometimes varies -- just keep an eye out here for the time and location. But in the meantime, feel free to post any questions you have. We have a pretty friendly and easy-going bunch here (provided you don't prod MacClellan too hard).

welcome!! we'd love to have you, and that's exactly what we're here for.

to join, you can print the application from the web site and just bring it to the next meeting (to be announced shortly), or you can swing by the Coral Reef...they have the applications there also.

i too have a ton of chaeto that could use a thinning out, i'm in the straw plains area if that's any closer for you. but if you get it from joel, that's an excellent excuse to visit the fish stores...and you could sign up for the club while you're down that way.

Hey!! Thanks for the warm welcome, guys.

I'm also from the Aquarium/CR area. (Middlebrook and Weissgarber) literally 2 minutes from Aquarium, 3 from CR. The strawberry plains area is a little further out though. I'll give macclellan a try to see if I can get the cheato in the area closest to me. macclellan, you have a PM

I literally drove about 1 minute to macclellan's house to get some chaeto. The bag was pretty full so I have that in a net, floating on my DT since my sump isn't finished. I'll be drilling the holes tomorrow. Thanks for the offer, it seems chaeto is fairly easy to grow ) There were even several copepods mixed in the chaeto, I hope that will be enough to seed my fuge!!! YAY!!! I'm excited!

Now... pardon my foreigness, but to "Part with some $$$" does it mean I'll make money or I'll spend money?? Based on my little experience with SW tanks, I may be asking a stupid question... in fact... forget I wrote that. I'm sure you're talking about spending... not making.

Unfortunately I won't be able to spend too much moolah since I've been laid off for 3 months and bills are starting to catch up with my reserves. But I would still like to assist the meeting and make friends. I'm counting to meet you and everyone that thinks it's cool enough to hang out with me... JUST KIDDING!!!!! :lolspin:

By parting with some $$$$ I ment since I am the treasurer I will be glad to accept your membership dues ( via mail or meeting up) if you can't make the April meeting or just can't wait that long to join up.

Well... they did look like funky algae! It looked more like spinach birds nest soup...... NOW WAIT A MINUTE!!! Can I cook these at 78 degrees? Biggest soup ever! :eek2:

i don't believe we have a paypal account. as much as janie would like to snatch it from you, it may be beneficial to hang onto your $ for a couple weeks, we're going to have a couple surprises for new recruits at the april meeting (james, i'd say you count!)...details to follow in the new april meeting thread, a couple things are being ironed out.

and for the record, we prefer the more traditional lampshade hat dance.:dance:

Hawaii won't be "really" nice until 4 more weeks. I wouldn't worry about it. You'll have it by then more than likely.
