How to best remove cupramine from tank

I have a 70 gallon tank that I would like to use in my main system. Problem is I treated some fish with cupermine a few months ago. There is no water in the tank right now. could I scrub it down with vinegar and than fill it up with tap water and run some carbon in it for a few days?

Just cleaning it thoroughly with vinegar and/or bleach should do the trick. Just be OCD about it; take your time and wipe it down thoroughly.

+1 I would also fill it up with straight RO water, let it sit for a day or two, then drain and fill again, just to get the last remnants that you didn't wipe off. May not be necessary, but Cu is toxic at very low levels, so being OCD is never bad...

If you are really worried just run carbon in your tank until you feel comoftable removing it.

This may be a question without an answer. Who knows how much Cu the LR absorbed and when it will find its way back to the water column? I think any both "yes' and "no" can be argued till doomsday.

I'm trying to avoid the obvious reference to using Cu with LR in the first place; I just hope folks reading this thread will see this as another vital reason to always use a QT/HT. The LR makes accurate Cu level monitoring treatment impossible too.

I have read ( several times) that some corals are sensitive to Cu levels lower than we can measure with hobbyist grade tests; but salt mix has some Cu, as does sea water. Someone who knows the the copper and invert problem much better than I do will come along.
