How to build a fuge

Hi GUys,

ALrighty I have been lurking around here for a long time. I have read alot of information on how to setup a nano tank. I must say we have alot of talented people here.

My question to you is how do I build a fuge in a seperate tank. I have a smaller tank about a 2.5g and I want to build it in there is it possible? What things do I need?

Thanks

get some acrylic glass, some silicone, and a small pump, and some stiff tubing. Use a razor blade and a ruler to "engrave" where you want the glass to snap at, and snap it over an edge with your hand real fast. I would break the tank into 3 places, little one for water to come into, going SLOWLY into a big area for the fuge, and then over into the 3rd chamber where the pump can push it back into your tank. OR do what I did which is so simple and cheap and most importantly WORKS and go to this link: http://reefcentral.com/forums/showt...rpage=25&highlight=how to DIY an&pagenumber=1
Depending on the size tank you have you can use whatever sized AC you want, I used the smallest one for my ten gallon and my hair algea dissapeared within 1 week with some calaurpa in there. Good luck

D to the P:

I have been meaning to build a refugium as well. Where is a good place to purchase acrylic from on line? Or can you just buy it at local home depot, hobby store, etc..?

go to home depot, its only like 4 dollars for a sheet thats like 2 foot by 1 foot (roughly). It might be hard to find at first because apparently nobody in home depot is required to know anything, and I don't even know why people at lowes even open their mouth. sorry for the rant

D to P:

Thanks. I will try the local home depot. Is there certain thickness that I should look for or are there certain qualities such as clarity that I should be aware of?

not really, just get the normal clear sheets that they'll have, when i went there wasn't a selection of thickness it was just size and color. the cheapest one will do fine as long as it isn't already cracked. Also you'll want to leave yourself some room for error cause you might not break the pieces exactly how you need them.
