Ok my 29 gallon reef has been up and running for 1.5 years, now for the last 6 months i heard some poping noises, not the kind that my pistol shrimp made, they were more of click click click likea marble tapping on glass, so then i noticed oneof my anemone crabs died, then my peppermint shrimp went missing, so it hit me... i have a mantis shrimp, not a normal mantis, a basher, then i found the exoskeleton of a 1 inch mantis shrimp, didnt hear any clicking for a week now i here them more often a little louder, i also found the area of were it resides, but cant find him!!! I have tried taking the rocks out and pouring cold and hot ro water on them... nothing, tried 3 diffrent types of traps... nothing, so i cant figure a way top catch him. i want to keep him, but i need to get him out of the tank!!! I shall name him Rikudo (dont ask why). but please help!!!

If you have another tank ready and you think you know which rock he is in, just transfer the rock to the other tank.

Rickudo? Duel Masters cartoon fan, by chance? ;)

I just found a third mantis cruising around my 75g last night that I will be trying to catch. Luckily the rock he hangs out in is easily removed. He is a about 1" long, dark blue body with green and white meral spots. Unfortunately he is too small to get a decent picture of with my camera (cannot focus in on him). Once it finishes cycling he (Oliver) will have a new home in a 15g tank in my daughter's room. His partner Stanley is currently residing in my refugium and is currently sealed inside his rock, molting I presume, for the past 4 days. The first mantis I found was a little bitty guy that met his end in the clutches of a 5 inch Gulf Shrimp.

I think i still have another one in the tank somewhere cause there was clicking coming from another part of the tank while I had Oliver in my sights.

I think I have a killer in my tank too. Never seen him but my scooter blennies (about 4) and several (4) cleaner shrimp just disappear, no dead leftovers or signs of death by natural causes. I have heard of traps and was looking fo some ideas on building one. I have removed 2 carbs of some type, large about 1-1/2" wide. Last blenny was MIA after the crabs were removed. I have heard loud cracking sounds on a few occasions.
