How To Catch Chromis 101

im trying to get these fish out of my 100g and into my 60g... they out eat my other fish to the point that i have to feed more then expected as the chromis seem to have never ending stomachs... im tired of attempting to net these fish as they are literally lightning fast :fun5:...and im not into scarring my other fish bt thrushing this Big Blue Wire and Cloth "THING" into the tank... (only tried twice). i have 3 that need to go... i was thinking about going in @ night, but they sleep in the rock work near the center overflow :mad2: any ideas... im almost to the point of attempting to find a fish that i could buy to eat them. (what such fish might be able to do that job j/k dont want to risk my small maroon)

Spend the money on a fishtrap or make one

Try this

Get a bag from the LFS that the fish come in. Place a long section of thick fishing line around the top of the bag.Fold over the top a few times as if you were cuffing pants. Place inside the tank and put some food in it. Place it on the ground or on a rock with another smaller rock in it to keep it from moving. When the fish swim in, yank the fishing line to draw the bag closed.

It also might help if you didnt feed for a few days prior to this so they are fiesty and willing to eat anything.

I cought 4 chromis by turning off the pumps then putting flakes on the surface. The fish come up there then swoop down with the net...

listen to me my good friend...i just spent over a week to get some fish out and the hardest one was the chromis - i got him eventually....the trick was to place the fish trap (sold at marinedepot) at the top of the water tank, right at the water line. i held it in place with fishing lines going to the canopy. sat 10 feet away holding the trap door string and after 1-2 hours i got him

The trick is to get the BIGGEST clear plastic bag , turn off pumps and chase the fish into it.
