I was just reading in this forum that emeralds can eat zoanthids. I have 3 nice sized ones and 5 small ones. I would like some help with how to catch them, so I can take them back to my lfs.
thanks for any help you can give me.:D

Mike, I wouldn't be concerned right now unless you have caught them in the act . I have a couple and have yet to see them bother anything.
Don't get me wrong , I know crabs can be very oppertunistic, but sometimes they are just happy eating algaes and fish food.

mine have eaten my zoos so i got rid of the asap
try using the water bottle trap method with some bait and see if that works out
thats how i got rid of mines

I have 3 emeralds in my tank with tons of zoos and the only thing they ever do is pick around the zoos for some food... They never touch the zoos... If you are looking to get rid of them anyways try this method, works everytime for me... Like bboy said the water bottle method...

Take a 2-liter bottle of coke, and cut the neck of the bottle off... right where the neck ends and the bottle begins... Then take the neck piece and cut the bottle top off, enough to make the hole big enough for the crab to enter... After that flip the new neck around and insert it into the bottle so that the part where the top was is now at the bottom of the 2-liter...

Like this...

Then drill two holes at the top of the bottle so you can run a tie wrap through both the bottle and neck... Tie a fishing line to one of those holes and drop in some food... Fill the bottle up with water and submerge... once the crab realizes there is food in there it will make a run for it...

I have removed several crabs from friends tank using this method...

Good Luck

It should work for anything as long as you put the food thye love the most in there... I used this recently to catch to engineer gobies from my tank and it only took 25 minutes total and both were gone...
