How to catch trap brittlestars?

I have a brittle star that I'd like to remove from it's existing rock.

Usually I turn his rock over to expose him to light & after lights out he would have moved. Unfortunately where he's at now is directly under a 12" diameter efflo & I can't flip it to expose the starfish to the light without damaging the coral.

Are there any DIY traps or anything I can use to entice him out?

Use a piece of raw shrimp. I would do it after lights out.
Just lay it on the bottom, far enough out that it has to
come all the way out. This will take a little time but that
will go after the food. Then reach in and grab it.

Thanks for the tip, it worked great. Only took about an hour.

I've had this brittle star for 6 years & it's always been embedded deep into the rocks. He's even disappeared for months. I was suprised how bold he was.
