how to clean my sand

I am having a problem with my sand being dirty. I am sure I need to add to my cleaning crew. I need some suggestions as to what I need.

a little more info on the type of tank you have would help.but i would get some nassurious (sp) snails, kick up the flow in your tank, sand siftting gobby. how old is the system? new systems typically go through a diatom phase that will go away in time. stirring the sand will help

it is a 36 gallon bow front and its been running for 3 months i have 4 snails but my sand is getting brown i have led lights and a hang on filter.

Hey Randy... is that HOB filter the only source of water movement? If so you really need to kick it up. All get a good clean up crew.... blue leg hermits, black nasser snails, and Mexican turbos are a good start.

The brown on your sand is probably diatoms like L0ow ryderr said ..A cleaning crew such as snails and a blue diamond goby or something similar would be good at this point. I would hold on the hermits till you start having a green algae growth.
If you stir the sand you can keep the growth of diatoms down for awhile until you get some of the mentioned above inhabitants.
