How to clean tunze stream 6080

Hi guys,

I need to cleanup some tunze streams 6080 that are pretty encrusted in corraline algae and need a good cleaning. What are some good instructions to clean them?

Typically for any powerhead, I would give it a good soak in white vinegar for a few hours and coralline should come right off, take a clean/new sponge or toothbrush to get every speck.

I will sometimes even take the entire thing apart while one of the powerheads is running to keep a bit of circulation in the bucket.

It should look like new.

You could just run it in some vinegar water as mentioned but it does need to be taken apart & cleaned from time to time.

I had some pics of assembly in the Tunze forum, perhaps I could find them if you wish. Take the impellar out, carefully. Watch you dont loose the small red rubber bushing from the end. Take the larger bushing off & clean it & the magnet with a toothbrush.

Calcium deposits always seem to build up there. I usually just take mine apart and soak them in a vinagar/water mix for awile. I dont soak the large outside red rubber o ring or the smaller one from the impellar end.

I,m just an old fart, still kickin around.

By the way Saltman, I went looking for the pic I mentioned and I must have deleted it, as it was just a red x. If you pull the impeller out and the bushing & o ring stay in, which they do when calcified, then a pair of long nose pliers or something is needed to remove them.

But be very careful not to squeeze the bushing to much when grasping it.
