We used muriatic acid to lower the pH of pools at the waterpark I worked at because the sodium hypochlorite raised the pH of the pools so much. The fumes are not fun and can really burn your respiratory tract. Make sure you're really careful with it. Make sure to wear goggles and get it off your skin when you get it on. I used to get burns from the stuff we used.
all joking aside, this stuff is dangerous, upon opening a new "non-safe" bottle of acid you can see a puff of "white fume" coming out of the container, and during pouring, got gloves, goggles, and a fan to blow the fume out of the garage
