How to connect P3 wirelessly?

Hi everyone,
Okay to start, need to let you know that I am not a computer guy at all so that is why need to ask this question.

I'm setting up my Profilux 3 right now and currently doing all the set up via USB cable via my laptop (no problem). Now I want to try to do this wirelessly via my laptop so wondering what the best way to do this without buying the WLAN card for the P3.

I have an old router that I can connect via network cable (hard wired) to the P3. My laptop is currently wirelessly connected to the internet via a router that is hardwired to my main desktop computer.

Basically I want to connect wirelessly to the P3 and need to know if this is possible and how to do it.

Here is an "elaborate" detailed drawing of what I have and what I want to accomplish. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have my P3 connected in a similar fashion, but I purchased a wireless bridge. I connects to the "new router" and transmitts data between the P3 and the wireless router. The set up that you have demonstrated will not work (I do not believe). First, a wireless router is an access point. But it has to be connected to the network. Second, by having two routers you will have two divices handing out ip addresses. You can solve this by connecting to one and turning off the dhcp server and then you will have only one dhcp server.

So I do not think this will work. You need a wireless bridge. They also call it a game adapter since that is the biggest use for them.

Thanks Ken,
But as a "non techie guy", I have no idea what you mean by that:)
Can you draw out a small diagram to show me so I can figure out how to get somone to do it for me? Thanks!

Here is how you connect everything together:

1. You need a router that is also wireless. If your router is not already wireless go to step 2, if it is go to step 3.
2. Buy a new wireless router, set it up and give it a new name. Also, you need to decide whether you will encrypt the signal to make it harder for others to use your wireless network.
3. Buy a wireless game adapter. It is also called a wireless bridge. You connect it to your laptop so that you can configure it. You have to tell it the name of the wireless network that it will be connecting to and if there is a password you have to enter the password.
4. Connect the wireless game adapter to the profilux 3. You will need a short 1 foot network cord.

I hope that this is helpful.

I am actually doning the same thing ;) I have just got a new rogers all in one cable/wireless router and Chris Boboxx is going to attempt to use my old linksys wireless router as a bridge

I will report back how things go ;)

I do not know whether this can be done, but if you attempt to use the old wireless router as a bridge, you will need to turn off the DHCP server in the old router. Otherwise, you may get IP address conflicts. We have several wireless access points at our office. If you turn off the DHCP server on all but one router then all of your IP addresses will be consistent with no conflicts.

I did a google search to see if it is possible to use an old wireless router as a wireless bridge and it appears that it is possible, but requires a firmware upgrade. You can find an article about it by clicking here.

Okay,
Don't think I have the know how to make the old router into a bridge due to my computer dyslexia:)
Gonna wait till you try that out Michael:)
