How to connect two tanks together ?

Anyone have any ideas how I could bridge two tanks together.
Meaning, I have two tanks, with the exact same dimensions and I would like to hook them up together, meaning they share the same water.

I would place both tanks one beside the other. The obvious way of doing it, would be to drill both tanks and bridge them with plumbing between each tank. But if possible, I'd like to do this without having to drill the tanks.

Any ideas or suggestions ??

A sump would be the best for sure...or place a couple of u tubes between the two tanks. The problem with tubes or an adapted overflow box would be getting flow. Unless there was a water column height differecial, flow will be minimal.

looks like everyone agrees on the sump. I have seen another reefers setup with one 120 and one 180 tanks on a wall length shelf connected underneath with a large sump. Awesome idea and one I plan to implement someday. Avoids the hassle of multiple water changes and gives you much larger overall water volume. He ran one bare and the other with sand and he felt it stabilized his bare after tying it into the other.

well the sump is the obvious idea but if you elevated one tank by about 6 inches you could make one tank the "sump" for the other....it avoids the problems of adding a 3rd tank

^ Correct, if the siphoning breaks on a U Tube you are going to wish you had gone with the sump.. :)
